Release of RiskSpectrum PSA

We can after four years of development, testing, further development, retesting, etc finally announce the release of RiskSpectrum PSA!

We will now start shipping the software to all RiskSpectrum licensees with support agreements and all others licensees will receive an offer to upgrade.

It will take a while to package and ship the software so please be patient – You will receive your package in due course.

RiskSpectrum PSA is protected using HASP keys instead of the Sentinel key we used for RiskSpectrum PSA Professional. HASP comes in both single and multiple user solution, which means that you can have one or several keys programmed for a number of simultaneous users. When you have this key plugged in on a computer connected to your LAN, RiskSpectrum PSA will find it even when you start it on another computer connected to the LAN. We will contact every licensee to come to an agreement on what kind of keys you prefer.

Models created using RiskSpectrum PSA Professional can be automatically converted into the RiskSpectrum PSA format with a simple click on a button.

RiskSpectrum PSA in brief

RiskSpectrum PSA is the fourth generation PSA software from Relcon Scandpower AB in Sweden. It replaces RiskSpectrum PSA Professional first released in 1998.

A few years ago, we reached the limit of RiskSpectrum PSA Professional capabilities. No more features could be added. It was decided that we would skip a few generations of development tools and go straight to the Microsoft .NET development environment and the programming language C# (read more about this in May 2007 issue of the RiskSpectrum Magazine).

We are very excited about this release and look forward to start implementing the additional features requested by users, one by one. Some new features are already in the first release. Here are some of them:
• The status of all records can be set to; Edit, Review or Approve.
• A ”Quick Filter” feature in table editors.
• “Tag by date” and “Propagate Tag” globally in the model.
• Password protected models.
• Drag-and-Drop between Fault Trees.
• Server keys.
• Results are now displayed in a tab together with the analysis cases. You can also look at results from more than one analysis case at a time in split screens.
• Basic events with exchange events are highlighted in the fault tree editor.
• Undo. It will be possible to undo changes to a model one step back.
• Lock a model. Once a model has been locked, no changes can be made to the model until it has been unlocked by an administrator.
• It is possible to define basic events as either an initiator or an enabler. This is useful when doing reliability analyses calculating the unconditional failure intensity W. A basic event defined as an initiator is only included with its frequency and an enabler is only included with its probability.
• More project Options, for example turn off confirmation dialogs.

The help manual has been re-written to give a description of all the features and functions in the software. It is designed primarily to be used as a look-up reference. When using RiskSpectrum PSA you can press F1 anytime to launch the help file with the relevant section visible. There you will find answers to questions like “What is…?” and How do I use…?”. In many sections we have also included examples.
