| | Password RSRW |
| | You are automatically given the password "password". Once you have logged in you can change the password by pressing the "Change password..." button. It it necessary to type the old password first. You can also change your password by selecting the "User administration" item on the Administration menu. |

| | FYI: In the "User ID:" field you can type anything up to 20 characters long. All the changes you make in the RiskWatcher project will be logged with your ID and the time of the change. The password can be up to 20 characters long. |

 | Can´t launch RiskSpectrum PSA Professional! |
| | I can´t launch RSPSAP after installation. I get an error message telling me that there is something wrong with my Sentinel key. |

| | Problem starting RSPSAP |
| | If you are running Win NT or 2000, please make sure that you have installed the sentinel drivers. Drivers for Win NT are available on the RiskSpectrum CD in the folder called "Sentinel". Run the file "sent_wnt.exe" to extract the files to your harddisk. Install the drivers by running the file "install.bat" and selecting "Install Sentinel Drivers" on the "Function" menu in the window that appears. If you are running Win2000 or later OS, the drivers can be found on the Internet site of Rainbow Technologies: http://www.rainbow.com/support/eu_support.htm The parallel port on Laptops sometimes needs to be activated in order to recognise the Sentinel Key (dongle). You activate the port by using the Bios Setup on your computer. Please consult your user manual for your computer before you make any changes to the Bios setup. You should set it so that the port is activated at all times. Auto detection or similar is not sufficient e.g. it is not recommended to allow the operating system to choose when to activate the port. |

 | Identifying sequences |
| | How can I identify all sequences leading to a specific consequence? |
| ~^ |
Johan Sörman - February 10, 2004 |
| | Identify sequences leading to a consequence |
| | In project window choose Untag all records from Tools menu. Tag the consequence in question. Open Sequence table and tag those sequences that are related to tagged consequence using Tag by Criteria in Record menu. Now you can also generate analysis cases for all the sequences leading to your consequence: In sequence table, select all tagged sequences (filter on tag and then select all) and then execute the command "Analyses case for all selected" in Analysis menu.

 | uncertainty analysis |
| | I do not know how to insert data for uncertainty analysis. I can not find the place in risk spectrum to define distribution type and error factor in order to estimate the uncertainty. |

| | Uncertainty analysis |
| | I am happy to see that you are using our forum. Actually it hasn´t been that much activity lately and that's why I haven't answered earlier. Anyway, the distribution type is entered into the parameters. Usually you only assign a mean value to the parameter, but you can also choose to assign a distribution type and the corresponding shape factor (Dist. Par.). You can find more information about it in the Theory Manual (the chapter about reliability parameters). Regards, Erik Sparre |

 | Uncertainty - PDF graph |
| | Can you decribe, how to obtain x,y values used to display PDF graph in Risk Spectrum ? When I used x and f(x) values from table generated by RS and put these values into Excel the shape of curve I obtained was similar (but different) to one produced by RS. I know from RS theory manual that some kind of normalization is being performed. Even some steps to obtain pdf values are here described:/// When all pdf values have been calculated according to the formula above, they are normalised so that their sum is equal to 1. The pdf values can be used to plot a pdf histogram in the following way: 1. pdf = 0 for X-values below the first percentile value (percentile 0 ) 2. pdf = second pdf value in the X-interval from the first percentile value to the third percentile value 3. etc /// There is no column "Prob. density" in the result file and obviously RS does not use x, f(x) values in table to display PDF graph. So which x,y pairs are used to display PDF graph and how to obtain these data from table generated by RS ? Thanks |

 | Password RiskSpectrum FMEA? |
| | What password do I use the first time I log in to a new project. |
| ~^ |
Johan Sörman - February 10, 2004 |
| | Password RSFMEA |
| | The first time you log in (open a new project) you must use the predefined user account with the ID: "sa" (System Administrator). The password for this user is "sa". Once you have logged in you can open the Administration group on the View Bar and add or delete user accounts and change passwords. User accounts are stored in your RS-FMEA projects. In the "User ID:" field you can type anything up to 20 characters long. All the changes you make in the RS-FMEA project will be logged with your ID and the time of the change. The password can be up to 8 characters long. Please make sure to use a password that you can easily remember, but that is difficult for others to figure out.

 | MCS analysis |
| | There is a big diference between results calculated in Consequence analysis and results calculated in MCS analysis. Probably this diference came from the event tree sequence which is with probability of failure equal to 1? |
| ~^ |
Yasen Petrov - January 10, 2005 |
| | MCS analysis |
| | It is correct that the results might differ between a consequence analysis case and a MCS analysis case. There are two reasons for this: 1. The MCS analysis case uses the demodularised cutset-list to calculate the top result. When running a consequence analysis case, all calculations are done using a modularised cutset-list. 2. As you mention, events with a failure probability of 1 may also cause differences in the results. An enhanced treatment of Q=1 events has been introduced for the normal analysis case (e.g. consequence analysis case). In the process of the calculation of the top event, the basic events with a failure probability of 1,0 is temporarily set to TRUE and the cutset list is minimised before the program calculates the top event. When the top result has been calculated the Q=1 events are restored and saved in the MCS lists. The MCS analysis case operation will be based on the MCS list where Q=1 events are included and that is why the results may differ. We will take a look at the possibility of using the enhanced treatment of Q=1 events also for the MCS analysis case.

| | MCS analysis |
| | This is OK but but does not help much, because i want to use MCS analysis in oreder to perform post processing (not possible in the conseq. analysis) but the results probably will be very conservative. I tried to use Log. and simple quantification but it does not change the results. |

 | !Help for MCS Editor Error! |
| | when we use the MCS Editor in RS program after the MCS for our ET or FT was caculated, a window pop up that represented following message:Error initializing result file:outflow. then second window pop up after the OK button was clicked, that represented following message:There are no cutsets in the result file.therefore , we can not use the MSC editor for this file. What method can be used to deal with this situation? |

| | !Help for MCS Editor Error! |
| | It looks like you try to open the result file, which does not exist or it contains no cutsets. Please re-run the analysis and check that the program has found cutsets for your analysis.
